Dr. Chulhee Kang is Professor at the School of Social Welfare, Yonsei University, South Korea. He served as editors of leading journals in social welfare in Korea and currently serves as the editor of Korean Journal of Social Welfare Research as well as an editorial board member of NVSQ (Nonprofit & Voluntary Sector Quarterly). He designed Community Chest Korea (the largest charity organization in Korea) and the Honor Society (the largest major donor club in Korea.
Dr. Kang and currently serves as a board member of United Way Worldwide (the largest charity organization in the world) as well as Community Chest Korea and corporate & independent foundations in Korea. He has been a leader in institutionalizing new philanthropic institutions as well as philanthropic study in Korea.
Since 2000, Dr. Kang has been a designer of the Giving Korea (national survey on giving and volunteering) and was an advisory member of a giving section of the Social Survey Data in Korea which has the largest sample size (more than 38,000 citizens). His research includes wide range of topics related to philanthropy and nonprofit organization management. His current research focuses on specific topics such as major giving, wealthy citizens’ giving, corporate giving, and duration and loyalty in giving and volunteering.
